How to Make Money Writing for Info Barrel

Info Barrel is another website that you can publish content in exchange for getting displays of Google Adsense advertisements with your publisher ID. On InfoBarrel you create an article that is called a barrel on the site. Although the company also makes use of Kontera Text Link Ads, you only profit share with them on the Adsense displays. The advertising split that you get with InfoBarrel is a bit better than what you see on the competing site, Hubpages, at 75/25 in your favor versus 60/40. Two other differences you should note before you jump into solely writing for InfoBarrel over HubPages, however, is that Info Barrel at the time of this writing is a PR-4 site with just over 200,000 unique views (Compete.com) from last month, where HubPages is a PR-6 site with just over 6 million unique views last month. Does this matter? Well, it will more than likely result in your content taking a bit longer to be indexed and discovered on Info Barrel than HubPages, but the blogger who turned me on to Info Barrel uses both.

Getting Started Making Money Freelance Writing for InfoBarrel

Getting started writing for Info Barrel is straight forward. First, you need to register at Info Barrel with a valid email. Although you don’t have to have a Google Adsense account to register or start producing content, you will not be able to monetize your barrels until you have one. Info Barrel has also recently started using Chitika ads as well which you can use in parallel with Adsense for you income. After you complete your registration, you will need to confirm a link emailed to the address you submitted at registration.

Info Barrel Article Requirements

Before starting to write your first article for the site, you will want to familiarize yourself with some of the requirements for content submission. These include but are not limited to:

1 – Articles have to be at least 325 words. 400 or more is preferred with those less than 400 having a low probability of showing up on the Index.

2 – Your content has to be original and not already exist on the Internet. InfoBarrel will check this.

3 – The normal good neighbor rules on not being hateful content, written in decent English, not be too spammy, etc.

4 – No external links in the first paragraph of your article other than other InfoBarrel articles

5 – No more than two non-InfoBarrel links per article.
Steps to Submitting Content for Info Barrel

Step 1:
Select the “Create” menu button that’s located in the upper, left-hand part of the InfoBarrel tool bar on the site.

Step 2:
Choose an article template from Info Barrel. The choices you can make are: 1 – Blank, 2 – Video, 3 – How To, and 4 -Review. If you don’t know which format to use, just pick the “Blank” format. The “How To” format is similar to what you are used to seeing on eHow.

Step 3:

Enter your article title and click the “Check Availability” menu button to see if it has already been published on InfoBarrel before. If not you’re in luck. If it has, you will need to pick a new title to use.

Step 4:

Browse and upload any imagery that you want to include with your article using the File Chooser on the article template.

Step 5:

Choose the appropriate category for your article using the menu located on the right-hand side of the screen. You will need to drill down to a 2nd or 3rd level on the menu options when picking your category.

Step 6:

Enter up to five tags for your article that are relevant to the content on the lower right hand side of the screen. These will need to be entered on separate lines.

Step 7:

Enter your article and submit for publishing.

Getting Paid by Info Barrel

As mentioned earlier, the primary means for you to be paid by Info Barrel is by Google Adsense. Chikita has been added as a new publisher option to profit share. In order to tell what Adsense earnings come from your content on Info Barrel, you will need to create an Adsense Channel for the Info Barrel site. Although you are reliant on Google and Chikita to be paid (which takes a minimum of $100 USD in earnings), similar to Hubpages you can earn more per article than on sites than only pay you based on page views for many niches. The other nice thing with Info Barrel is that if you sign-up any new writers, you will get 2% of their advertisement displays that will not take away from their potential earnings.

Downside of Freelance Writing for Info Barrel

So, from my point of view, the “Bad’s” for Info Barrel are of course that you do have to give the company 25% of your advertising views. The other downside is that you have an editor wicket for at least your first 10 articles on Info Barrel that doesn’t exist on HubPages. Now, this isn’t necessarily bad since it reduces the number of spammy content producers, but it does mean your writing won’t be live for at least a day.

That’s about it. Here is the sign-up page for Info Barrel if you are looking to try them out.

I started writing for Infobarrel at the beginning of the year and my income is growing each week. The secret is to keep adding low competition keyword articles.
You don't even need to add any backlinks to these articles, which is another added bonus
