Behind on bills? Recently laid off? Tired of your life being like the 2nd video in “Where Do You Fit in to the Dot Com Lifestyle ” and not like John Chow’s in the first video? You’re not alone. There are literally thousands of others across the world in the same boat. How do you change this though? Instead of talking about what ‘may’ happen for the good, who ‘might’ do something to improve your life, and how President Obama’s going to send you a check, why not do something about it?

How to get Motivated for Action

So, how do you get motivated for action? What can you do? Well, I was fortunate enough to be able to listen to Dr. Don Hutson , author of the New York Times Best Seller, The One Minute Entrepeneur , speak at the University of Memphis Graduation Ceremony earlier today. He made a great point that motivation is like taking a shower. If you only take one shower, you’re going to start stinking…you’ve got to take one regularly. The same applies with motivation. Whether its getting yourself motivated to find employment for that 50th interview since you’ve been laid off, or its motivating those who work for you, its not something you can just do once and be done with it. It takes work, and more work. Just think of every 10 people that don’t have jobs, how many are satisfied to accept unemployment, apply for a new job say every month, and wait for ‘The economy to improve.”? How many are taking advantage of this economy to better themselves, find a new field of employment that may be more satisfying or heck even possibly pay more? Probably no more than 1-3 out of 10 (8-10 rule or the Pareto Principle applies ). Just think, the probability of : 1 – Winning Powerball, 2- Getting a $50,000 Stimulus Check, or 3 – Having a Company Call You for that Perfect Job without taking any action on your part are all probably close to 0.0%! You have to act! Do something.

Start Freelance Writing to Help Make Ends Meet

So you may say great, I’m going to start putting in an application a day, or two, or three! But, I’ve got bills I’m getting behind on even now, what can I do? Well, if you have access to a computer or at your library, can read, and passed English class in High School, you can make money freelance writing on topics that interest you! Don’t know what to write about? What interests you? Cooking? Sports? Day-time television? Hollywood? the list goes on. With the explosion of the Internet in the last decade, Content is King! Recession? Smession! Sure, writers who get paid $1000 a page may be finding it tough for employment, but there is plenty of work available that can pay you $200, $500, $2000 and more a month depending on how much time and effort you put into writing! The best part of writing compared to other part time jobs you may be looking at is: 1 – Unlike delivering the newspaper you don’t have to be awake between midnight and 5 a.m. unless you want to be!, 2 – Unlike delivering Pizza, you don’t have to work for a 17 year old manager who may or may not have graduated high school, and 3- You can do it on your couch!
