Make Money Freelance Writing About Sports

Why Freelance Write?
The traditional teenage venues for employment are turning away college educated adults for per-hour wage jobs (or so the rumor goes where I live!). Places like McDonalds, Best Buy, Wal Mart, your local farm(s), the list goes on are normally a no-brainer if you’re over 16 and reside in the U.S. to get some kind of employment to pay for gas, movies, your boy or girl friend, or just to pay for bills! If you’re a fan of any of the major sports (baseball, basketball, U.S. football, soccer, and yes even cricket), you can find a niche to write about your favorite team, sport, or league and make some money doing so!
How do I get started Freelance Writing about Sports?
If you have not freelanced before, I recommend you review the “How to Get Started Freelance Writing” articles on my blog first to help get you going. If you don’t have enough time to check those out, register at Associate Content and publish 5-10 sports related articles. What topics? Well, five that you can apply to any sports team are:
1 – Best Five Teams
2 – Top Five Players
3 – Upcoming Season
4 – Review of the Previous Season
5 – Predictions for the Upcoming (or ongoing Season)
If you’re writing about a team who is currently playing, you can include daily or weekly reviews of games played or predictions and previews for upcoming games!
Getting Paid Freelance Writing About Sports
Don’t worry, if you are a Web nugget (aren’t most of us??), you can publish articles at AC without having to do any HTML programming, pay any money to anyone, etc. Once you have 5-10 published (it will take up to two weeks when you’re new at AC), then its time to start looking at better paying jobs if you like to write! You will have your own automatically created webpage with AC that you can use to provide a uniform resource locator (URL) to use for your writing samples! The SportswriterHq has some decent listings of sports-related freelance jobs as far as one place you can get started. Most of the websites, blogs, eZines, will ask to see a sample of your work when you apply. Once you get in the door, they will likely start you slow before increasing the pay on the jobs that you can find writing about sports. What’s the best thing about all of this? That’s right, you can do it at home, on your couch even with a wireless Internet connection, after the kids are in bed, after your day job (if you have one)! You won’t get rich quick, but you can make enough to help pay that credit card that’s delinquent, pay for HBO for a few more months, or even help pay for your Internet. If you can’t find a site to work through the Sportswriter postings, then you can check out “Where to Find Freelance Writing Gigs” for a number of other sites on top of AC that can get you started.
