SEO Tools – Using Google’s Search-Based Keyword Tool
- 3 Comment
SEO Tools. Most experienced freelance authors are familiar with Google Adwords and their associated SEO author tool. In the last few months, Google has also released a new search-based keyword tool to help you generate additional keyword ideas relevant to your website based on monthly user queries in Google. The new tool helps bridge the gap from what consumers are actually searching on that might relate to your website compared to keywords that you ‘think’ are still relevant. The Search-based tool will display a listing of relevant queries along with the monthly search frequency which can be considered for use with re-tooling old information on the web site or for creating new content and marketing strategies for SEO authoring.
SEO Tools – How to Use the Google Search-Based Keyword Tool
Similar to most of Google’s Webmaster tools, the Search-Based Keyword tool is not difficult to use. You do have to have a Google (or gmail) account to use the tools. If you already have one, go ahead and login. Once you are logged in to your account, go to the Search-Based keyword tool website, http://www.google.com/sktool/#. Once you’ve loaded the tool, input your website, type in relevant keywords to your site, and run the tool. You’ll see relevant keywords on your site, ones not on your site, the number of monthly searches in Google, and the suggested bid price for an adwords campaign per keyword group. If you click on any of the results, you can also see the annual trend of the keyword over the course of the last year to detect trends. The picture in this article shows the search trend for the searches on ‘freelance writing websites’ over the last year. One way to use the potential insights from the tool is to pick the top five keywords and phrases you are not ussing on the site and revise some of your legacy content and target new posts or articles with the new keyword sets.
