Making Money Online – Formatting Articles. Every freelance website that you write for will require a slightly different format. These format tips can be used with Associated Content articles and portions of them on other writing sites. Current search engine algorithms take into account many factors to rank pages besides keyword repetition. Some other factors taken into account are the use of bold and / or hyper-linked text . In key parts of your article consider bolding the key-phrase if it makes sense (if used sparingly). Many times, I will start the introduction paragraph of an article with the key-phrase and bold it. I will also incorporate the key-phrase into sub-paragraph headings and bold the entire heading as well. Remember, when writing for the web, that readers will scan your article and not necessarily read every word. Through the use of bold sub-headings, you can capture their attention better as well as that of the Search Engines!

So, the shell of an article on a sports topic using these rules would look something like this:

20XX NCAA Football Season Preview. Note that 200XX NCAA Football Season Preview is our primary key-phrase for this notion article. You would continue to write introduction points until you complete your point or in the sweet-spot of 75-100 words.

20XX NCAA Football Season Preview – Florida Gators

Note how we make a bolded sub-heading for our paragraph on the Florida Gators. I like to use italics here sometimes as well. You could just as easy underline the sub-heading. Note how we work in the key phrase so if it doesn’t make sense for you to use it in the paragraph, you don’t have to do so! I have also hyperlinked a relevant website to the Florida Gators phrase in the sub-heading. There’s no right or wrong number of hyperlinks to use, though I always try to have four to five at a minimum per article.

20XX NCAA Football Season Preview – Oklahoma Sooners

You would write 3-4 sentences on the Sooners prospects for the upcoming season here.

20XX NCAA Football Season Preview – USC Trojans

And do the same for the USC Trojans here.

20XX NCAA Football Season Preview – BCS Championship Prediction

Finally, you would wrap up your article with thoughts on who might win the season here. Online readers love to read predictions, but make sure you tell the reader what they are based on!
